Aldebaran, a Farr designed Beneteau Oceanis 44 Center Cockpit, is a well equipped and maintained yacht ready for her next adventure. In August of 2020 her current owner upgraded the D.C. system with three 200 Amp-Hour batteries with updated Wind Generator adaptation and charge controller. At the same time a Victron Charger/Inverter for Lithium batteries was professionally installed.
If you are not familiar with Lithium batteries here are some of the advantages:
More useable amp-hours; Lithium batteries can be discharged to 80% (recommended for longer lifespan) versus only 50% for AGM and lead acid batteries. When discharging them to 80% the life expectancy is more than 2,000 cycles as compared to 1,000 cycles for AGM batteries.
Weight; Lithium batteries weigh about half that of lead acid batteries and a third of AGM batteries.
Stable voltage, fast charging, they hold their charge longer and have less wasted energy. Of course they are maintenance free.
A number of maintenance items were attended to over the last year keeping various onboard systems current and operational.
This two cabin, two head layout is sensible with the emphasis on the owner's comfort and space.
Starting forward, there is a more than adequate, private V-berth cabin with a spacious dressing area that includes a vanity table/desk aft to port and storage lockers to both starboard and port. The private, forward head is to starboard and the one piece, molded head/shower compartment is waterproof and easy to clean.
Continuing aft, you move into the salon. A large, U-shaped settee with a dining table is to port and two individual seats with an aft-facing nav table are to starboard. The great natural light and ventilation make this a very comfortable area to relax and entertain guests.
Moving aft into the starboard walk-thru, there is a well-equipped galley outboard and engine access inboard.
All the way aft, you enter the huge, private master stateroom. This spacious area is one of the major benefits of a center cockpit design. There is a large centerline berth with hanging lockers, extra storage space both to port and starboard and a dressing table/bureau with mirror. Exceptional light and ventilation is provided by four opening portholes, overhead hatch, two vents and both overhead and reading lights. Forward to port is the private head with a separate shower/tub.
This galley has everything you need to store and prepare full meals while cruising:
