Description
OYSTER 45 YO HO HO OF SARK - NEW IMAGES JUST ADDED
Designed by Holman and Pye, the 45 was drawn with a particular emphasis on maximising internal volume and creating a spacious, comfortable and practical yacht. She retained the valuable Oyster rugged offshore trademarks of single-skin hull construction, keel-stepped mast, and full-length rudder skeg. Perhaps the best feature of the 45 is the full-width saloon, which has a lovely light and open feel due to the large Oyster deck saloon windows, two of which open to provide superb ventilation.
The straight saloon seating provides two sea berths. When opened up, the wonderful saloon table connects the two settees and enables a large number of guests to be entertained. Just aft of the navigation station is a large walk-in locker, which can also be accessed from the cockpit. A hugely popular feature among 45 owners, this space can be used for storage, a workshop, or locating a holding tank for the aft head if desired.
All 45s were sloop rigged, and the vast majority have in-mast furling, allowing safe shorthanded sail handling from the cockpit. A great performer under sail, the 45 has a gentle motion offshore thanks to her balanced hull, fine entry, and the stiffness provided by her external lead bulb keel. The 45 is a proven circumnavigator, long distance blue water cruiser and live-aboard, but due to her compact overall length she is also a great local family cruiser, as she is simplicity itself to handle.
We launched twenty-three 45s between 1996 and 2004, with a further thirteen launched as 47s, which were extended 45s with an aft lazarette.
Yo Ho Ho has been in her current owners’ hands for a decade and has cruised extensively in the UK. Cherry interior joinery gives a rich and luxurious feel below decks where she sleeps six in three cabins, with another two sea-berths possible in the saloon. She is sloop rigged with in-mast furling to her mainsail and comes with a cruising chute and storm jib. Her caring owners have continued to spend on her, her white sails were new in 2024, and her spars were painted and standing rigging changed in 2021.
Only for sale as the owners have bought a larger Oyster, early viewing is recommended.
NOW IN OYSTER UK.

BROKER’ S COMMENTS
Designed by Holman and Pye, the 45 was drawn with a particular emphasis on maximising internal volume and creating a spacious, comfortable and practical yacht. She retained the valuable Oyster rugged offshore trademarks of singleskin hull construction, keel-stepped mast, and full-length rudder skeg. Perhaps the best feature of the 45 is the full-width saloon, which has a lovely light and open feel due to the large Oyster deck saloon windows, two of which open to provide superb ventilation. The straight saloon seating provides two sea berths.

OWNERS ’ COMMENTS
The items in italic highlight the non-standard items fitted during the build programme or added by the owner thereafter.
“We bought this Oyster 45 from Oyster Brokerage in 2014 knowing that the quality of the boat and build, together with her sea keeping qualities would be superior, safer, and more durable than a new mass production boat for a similar outlay (or considerably less as we look around today!). After 10 years without question we would do it again - in fact, we are!!
She has been a platform for some amazing experiences and adventures and is a much-loved member of our family, loved by our friends and is very easy to handle safely two up.
Over the years we have received so many compliments about YoHoHo from guests, crew and onlookers (including marine professionals) on our travels. Everyone loves being on this yacht and her sense of calm dependability. Many yachtie visitors aboard have been particularly envious of the storage - especially our enormous walk-in garage, accessible from the door next to the chart table.
Her sailing performance is fantastic. In 2015 we came 3rd in the Oyster Regatta at Palma where the crew of the race committee boat later told us they were astonished by our climbs away up to windward. We were the oldest, smallest boat in the fleet and the only non-electrically winched boat -which just goes to prove what an excellent high-performance design she is!
In 2016 we led the Oyster fleet to 1st prize after four days of racing in Oyster’s Solent Regatta, which made us feel very proud of her -though we had commissioned new white sails from Elvstrom by then!
It was also fascinating and great fun to dine at many of the Solent’s Royal Yacht Clubs including The Royal Yacht squadron!
When you read the specification that follows you will note how much equipment and gear has been replaced and upgraded over our ten years of custodianship of this beautiful yacht.
Our investments have been significant and generally in the areas of safety, comfort, reliability, ease of use and performance - which means that she is a very enjoyable and relaxing boat to spend time aboard.
In addition to this she has always been well-maintained with recent sole board varnishing, mast re-painting, new cooker, brand new main and genoa (first used August 2024), etc. and every winter her Volvo engine has been serviced by reputable, professional engineers from either Yachting Sports or Ardfern Yacht Centre.
For anyone contemplating an ARC or World ARC YoHoHo has been transitioning towards this in our ownership so there would be very little additional preparation or expenditure required to be off and gone!* For anyone else she is simply ready to go sailing without any immediate to do list to stop you, and we are sure, she will give you as much pleasure as she has given us!
Owners of Yo Ho Ho of Sark since 2014
