Zorba is a 43ft custom catamaran built by Composite Yacht Constructions (now Asia Catamarans) under the management of marine carpenter Roger Diggleman. The boat is a Contraste 44 designed by Jacques Fioleau, a French naval architect known for designing light performance catamarans.

The build is plywood epoxy, with 4 watertight bulkheads and a displacement of 8000kg.

The aim of this catamaran is to combine performance, comfort, and safety for extended cruising. The boat has several key features:

• Daggerboards for better upwind performance

• Light displacement and good sail plan, making her very fast

• Rigid extended coachroof for a fully protected cockpit

• Abundant storage throughout, many smart ventilation systems for cabins and engine rooms, rain water collection system

• A simple setup for long-range fast cruising without complications!

The boat is an owner’s version with 3 double cabins, and a large bathroom forward on the starboard side. The saloon opens fully into the cockpit, making for open-plan living including a lounging area (and 2nd double bunk if needed), large cockpit table with seating for 6–8, and a good-sized U-shaped galley that faces forward. The interior is a balance of teak and white painted joinery, offering a bright, easy-to-maintain living space.

Zorba has been well maintained, with regular equipment upgrades:

• 2024 mainsail: North Sails square top pro radial dacron, full battens, 59m²

• 2017 gennaker: North Sails 80m²

• 2014 self-tacking solent: North Sails

• 2022 new Rocna anchor and chain

• 2021 new house batteries

• 2022 solar power: 680W Sunpower flexible panels (2 installed, 2 spare) with Victron MPPT charge controllers

• 2021 new Victron inverter: 220V 800W

• 2023 new 3m rigid inflatable dinghy

• 2023 new 18hp Tohatsu outboard

• 2024 haulout: full antifouling and sail drive servicing

The boat is berthed in the south of Tahiti and ready to sail. The Papeete tax is paid, so her new owner can continue cruising in this region if desired.
