Description
With a comprehensive refit in 2019 and further optimisation ‘Canada Ocean Racing’ will make an ideal candidate for the 2028 Vendée Globe. With a new keel and bulb in 2019 the mast was also changed to a wing mast. Maintained by a professional team ‘Canada Ocean Racing’ presents like new and has a proven race pedigree with a win in the 2021 Ocean Race Europe with ‘Offshore Team Germany’.
Recently campaigned by Scott Shawyer as ‘Canada Ocean Racing – Be Water Positive’ promoting a message of water positivity, the aim of which was to shed light on global water scarcity and inspire positive change in how we manage our precious water resources and the environment.
Originally commissioned in 2011 as ‘Acciona’ this was the 8th Open 60 designed by the leading naval architects Merfyn Owen & Allen Clarke and involved the most far-reaching research and development program of the time. She was the first IMOCA 60 zero emissions racing yacht, designed to compete without any fossil fuels on board and completing a lap of the globe. Built in New Zealand by Southern Ocean Marine 2011, she was latterly campaigned by ‘Offshore Team Germany’.
Race prepared for the current IMOCA Globe Series, ‘Canada Ocean Racing’ is in great shape for the next series culminating in the 2028 Vendée Globe. We would recommend anyone aspiring to the next series takes a serious look at this well specified and proven IMOCA 60.
