Boat Details
Description
The Great Harbor 26 was designed by famous naval architect William Cook. Mr. Cook has numerous suberb racing and cruising designs but the GH26 stands out as one of his most beautiful boats. Night Sky, like the other five Great Harbors, was custom built in Southwest Harbor, Maine, in 2000 by the renowned yacht builder Hank Hinckley. This boat was returned to Southwest Harbor on a regular basis for upfits, improvements, and yearly maintenance. Prior to being sold to the current owner in the fall of 2021. The current owner has kept the boat hulled every winter since purchase

Accommodations
Below is a main cabin with two 7' bunk/settees. 4" cushions covered with red Sunbrella covers piped in white have additional wear covers to protect the cushions. Aft of the berths are large storage compartments both port and starboard. The 12VDC panel is located to starboard of the companionway along with the bilge pump panel and the control for the keel lift. Between the berths aft is an engine box/step unit that is removable to allow access to the engine. Forward of the berths are drawer units again both port and starboard.
In the forward cabin is a head unit to port and a sink and water pump (manual) to starboard. A large storage area is forward of that which has 4" Sunbrella covered cushions as well for the kids. At the head of the V-berth area is a closed anchor locker. A water tank and a holding tank are located under the forward cabin berth as is the electric/hydraulic pump for the keel lift and a second battery.
There are 4 opening portlights in the main cabin. An aluminum framed hatch with a solar fan is installed forward to give deck access to the V-berth area.
The cockpit has two sail lockers in which have been installed a number of shelves to permit improved storage of gear. On the aft deck are two opening hatches to permit storage of gear in the stern sections of the boat.

OtherNotes
On the 6 similar Great Harbors, Night Sky is very special in that it has a retractable fin keel that lifts vertically into the hull via a hydraulic/electric push button system. The reliable system, plus the removable cassette rudder, allows the yacht to be legally trailed without the modifications and adjustments needed for a kin keel. With keel up, the boat draws about 2 feet. down, the draft is about 5 feet. Night Sky sails like a dream. She is perfectly balance on all points of sail and will sail itself when properly trimmed.
